The Tanzanian associate is proud to present A Blueprint for Data Protection Law in Tanzania webinar series with Emmanuel Salami (LLM, CIPP/E, CIPM).

Emmanuel Salami is a Nigerian trained lawyer with expertise in privacy, data protection, Intellectual Property (IP), and Information Technology (IT) law. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Emmanuel has gathered experience working as a data protection advisor in Europe where he has advised various multinational companies on data protection law compliance. Emmanuel obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a Master of Laws degree in IT and IP Law from the Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany. Emmanuel is a Ph.D. candidate in IT/IP and data protection law at the Faculty of Law, University of Lapland, Finland. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals on both African and European Union data protection laws.

The webinar series will have 3 sessions that will run from the 14th to the 16th of October 2020 and will focus on data protection laws as they pertain to Tanzania. Session 1 will be; An introduction to data protection law, Session 2 will be; Towards a Tanzanian approach to data protection law: lessons across Africa and Session 3 will be Artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and data protection law.

 The format of the webinar will be by way of training by the facilitator, audience polls, Q&A, and a fun quiz. Participants can submit questions in advance or during the live session.

N.B This 3-part webinar series has been accredited by the Tanganyika Law Society (“TLS”), therefore Tanzanian Advocates who attend all series will be awarded 6 CLE points by TLS at the end of the series.
